Time sensitive product settings

Need to close orders for a certain product before the main order deadline? No problem!

📚
Our ‘Time Sensitive’ product option allows you to set an early deadline for a product before your normal delivery round deadline. This enables easy order management of products from suppliers which often have an early order cut off such as Milk, Dairy and Bread. This will help you reduce any waste by knowing exactly what you need to order from the supplier at the time you need to order it.

Summary: Setting a Subscription Lock for Products

What It Does:

Subscription locks set an earlier deadline for editing specific products before the main delivery round deadline.

How to Set a Subscription Lock

  1. Go to the product's ‘availability’ tab.
  1. Under ‘lock subscription at,’ select the desired day and hour.
  1. Click ‘save’ to apply.

Customer Experience:

  • Products with an early deadline show an ‘Early Deadline’ tooltip in the basket.
  • After the lock time passes, the product becomes uneditable and shows a lock icon with an explanation.
  • Products are editable again after the order processes.

Live Basket Report:

View all time sensitive products in customer baskets, including customer details, quantities, and lock status. Use this to finalise supplier orders.

Invalid Orders:

Products in locked baskets may fail normal basket rules or face holiday cancellations. Decide whether to include them in supplier orders or remove them.

Setting an early deadline for a product

A unique lock time for each product can now be set which enforces an early deadline for a specific product prior to the delivery round deadline. You can change the time and day the product can be edited by the customer until in the ‘availability’ tab of a product. You can add/change the settings under ‘lock subscription at’.

Time sensitive products and your storefront website

Once the subscription lock timings are set, any product that has these settings applied will include an ‘Early deadline’ tool tip when adding the item to the customers basket. An associated message is included making it clear to the customer that the product has an earlier deadline than the main order deadline for the delivery round.

Once the early deadline has passed for the product it will then be un editable in the customer basket until the order has processed. When the order has processed the product will then be editable again, enabling the customer to do actions like remove from the basket, change quantity and next order date. In the customer basket the ‘edit’ button changes to a ‘lock’ when the deadline has passed for the product preventing any changes to the product.

The lock icon also includes an associated tool tip and dialog explaining the lock status of the product as highlighted below.

💡
Normal basket behaviour applies even if a product with an early deadline is in the customers basket. - A customer would be able to invalidate their basket by removing other items from their basket in between when the product is locked and their normal deadline. This would prevent the basket from processing. - A customer could also still book a holiday suspension in between when the product is locked and their normal deadline.

The ‘locked’ column displays whether that item’s deadline has passed. The ‘valid’ column will detail any orders for the product that have an invalid basket due to not meeting your set basket rules or a holiday cancellation on the order.

It would be at your discretion whether you include the item in your order with the supplier or remove from the customers basket.
