We are excited to launch a host of new features and updates to our platform this morning! This includes the following:
👨🏻💻 New additions and updates to website contents blocks
We have introduced a host of new content blocks to the page builder. These new blocks should help take your websites to the next level! We have introduced the following new blocks:
- Google reviews carousel. This creates a feed from your google reviews connected to your business profile on google. A carousel of reviews is shown once this has been added and connected. This is a great way of showcasing authentic reviews from your customers building trust and credibility for your business.
- Google Reviews badge. This block enables you to add a badge to your content pages with an average review rating based on your business profile in google. Website users can also click on the badge to see more reviews.
For adding the google connection you will need to add a google place ID in Settings > General > Google place ID. To find your place ID click on the link provided in the admin.
- Product cards. This enables you to add a product block into content pages, when using these blocks customers will for now be able to add products to their basket from content pages. Previously this was only possible in the shopping area of your site.
- Category cards. This gives you the ability to add a direct link to a shopping category through these blocks. This will replace the need for using a card block in these situations. Please note - product and category cards can only be added within a column block.
USP block. This new block gives you the ability to add an icon along with a title and subtitle. These are great for use as a highlighting your USPs especially in pages such as your home page.
Carousel block. This is similar to the slider block but is more flexible with increased number of blocks that are visible in view to the user. You can adjust the responsiveness and number of blocks that show per a device. We would love to see you all utilising these new design elements on your sites. We are going to be sharing with you an example of a best practise site utilising all of these new elements soon so you can see what is really possible with our website builder. If you need any help or advice on this do let us know!
🏗️ Major improvements to the page builder experience
Improved WYSIWYG view. This update includes an upgrade to the page builder which when you are building your site it views much more like the front end website. This includes things such as images displaying as their true size, your theme settings applied to buttons, your chosen fonts showing in content blocks. This will make it easier when building your site with less need for checking your live storefront whilst creating new website content.
Content block presets. When adding a block to your website there is a new option for ‘presets’. This has some pre designed block combinations which will enable you to build your site faster. This includes options such as ‘best sellers’ containing our new product blocks.
Page templates. When starting a new page you now have the choice to start from blank or choose from one of our pre designed page templates. These will have pre filled contents for lots of common pages such as home pages, about us, contact us etc. This again enables you to build your site much faster. We are going to be building out and adding new page templates based on best practise and will provide updates when these have been added.
