This functionality gives you the ability to allow your customers/members to donate the value of their order to charity when they have set away dates in their holiday management page.
How does this work?
When the option is enabled in the admin, the customer can update a preference in their holiday management page in their account to allow their order value to be given to charity when they are on holiday.
Instead of the order not processing like a normal holiday cancellation, the customer is charged the value of the order and these orders are then flagged in a report for each week. Even though the customer is still charged for the order, the data for these order will not appear in live baskets or fulfilment.
The money for these orders will still reach your bank account in your normal stripe payout. You would then use the donation report to get the total donation value for each week which you would then donate to a charity of your choosing.
How to enable this feature
To enable your customers to use this option navigate to https://admin.growing-good.co.uk/sales/donations. Click the enable button.
Once enabled the orders that have been flagged for donation will appear on this page.
A donation option is then added to the customers ‘holiday management page’. The customer then has the option to toggle on or off the feature and update their preference.
When the donation option is activated and they have a holiday week selected, it is also reflected in their basket with a reminder that their order is on hold and that the value of their order is being donated to charity.
You can also see this preference in the customers record under the holidays tab. You can manually change this preference for the customer in this page.
